Angela Evelyn Bassett has been an American actress since the end of the 1980s. Known for her work in television and in film since the late 1980s she's been awarded numerous awards including two Golden Globe Awards and sixteen NAACP Image Awards in addition to nominations for two Academy Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett was born to her aunt in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Her birthplace was and raised at home in New York New York. Bassett moved with her twin sister in St. Petersburg Florida at the age of five so that they could be near their mom, who was separated from their father. Bassett was in high school when saw the James Earl Jones staring John Steinbeck in the play Of Mice and Men and realized that her desire of being an actor had been born. Yale University New Haven Connecticut awarded her a bachelor's degree (1980) with a focus on African American study, and an honorary doctorate (1983), from the Yale School of Drama. In 1997, she was married Courtney B. Vance who was an actor in the same group. Qualification: B.A. Graduated from Yale School of Drama School with a master's degree of African American studies, in 1980.
